Well, stressful issues have been very distracting from the things I wanted to get done this week (i.e. writing).
Tonight, after a grueling day of fighting attempted blackmail, I sat down to chat writing with the estimable Ronn. Our goal for tonight was to have the scenes of our novel written down, so that we'd have a handle on what to write and where our stories were going.
Ronn came to the table with 37+ note cards, each with a quick sentence stating what the scene was about. I came to the table with 8 scenes describing the action. Suffice it to say that neither one of us was satisfied with this methodology of generating a workable plotline.
I was over at the Ronn page, and he had some more book synopses up for ideas he had. And then, last night, I was reading a bunch of junk on the web and it generated some serious brain activity. I ended up writing four more book titles and synopses. I won't post them here, but if you're interested, drop me an IM or an email, and I might just share them with you.
Then, before going to sleep, I ended up attaching the first two ideas into parts 1 & 2 of a three-part story. It got so interesting that I almost abandoned my current book idea. But today, thank goodness, I came to my senses and worked some more on the scenes for my Sand•Riders novel.
So Mr. Arohen and I had our delayed writing call this past Wednesday, and here it is Saturday. So let's talk about it.
Well, we started off once again talking about the writing process, specifically scenes versus chapters. We discussed how this related to Ronn's writings, and then went into a bit more about the choices Ronn is making in his story. Then we moved on to my book and went through some choices I had to make there. Finally, we determined what we needed to complete before the next call, and signed off.
It's May 1st and I have severe wrist pain generated from too much computer use and, I'm sure, bad posture.
I will be starting to write a novel in the coming weeks, so to prep for the strain on my limbs, I've switched my mouse to the left hand and started wearing a wrist brace.
I'm hoping that this will give my wrist a chance to rest so that I can write like a screaming fool when the time comes. Let's hope it works.
I wrote to Typematrix to see if the 2030 keyboard works with my MacBook Pro, but they have yet to respond. Sad for me.
As a side note, Ronn is moving, so we did not have our call this week. Good for him, bad for me. So sad.
